Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualification
  • For Engineering/Technology disciplines: Candidates must possess a B.E./B.Tech/B.S. degree in the relevant discipline with a First Class or equivalent grade.
  • For Science and Humanities disciplines: Candidates require a Master's Degree in the appropriate subject with a First Class or equivalent grade at either Bachelor's or Master's level.
  • For Engineering/Technology disciplines: A Bachelor's and Master's Degree in a relevant discipline, with a First Class in either degree at the time of selection, is required.
  • For Science and Humanities disciplines: Candidates must hold a Master's Degree with a First Class or equivalent in a relevant subject and have qualified the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or an equivalent UGC-accredited test such as SLET/SET.
  • Essential Qualification
  • Required Qualification and Experience for direct appointment in Diploma Institutions.
  • Desirable Qualification
  • The minimum qualification for Dress Design & Garment Manufacturing and Interior Design will align with the Engineering/Technology qualification requirements as detailed in the table above.
  • Experience
  • Teaching/Post-doctoral experience (02 marks awarded for each year, see note #).

Salary/ Stipend

  • The salary structure includes an Entry Pay of Rs. 56,100/- at Level 9 'A' and an Entry Pay of Rs. 57,700/- at Level 10.

Age Limit (as on 01-08-2025)

  • The stipulated retirement age for Lecturer positions in Government Polytechnic/Government Women Polytechnic Institutes is 65 years.
  • As per the Jharkhand Technical Education Service Rules, 2024, there is no specified minimum age limit for applicants. The maximum age for applying is 65 years or less.

Application Fee

  • For candidates belonging to Unreserved, Economically Weaker Section (EWS), Extremely Backward Classes (Schedule-I), and Backward Classes (Schedule-II), the examination fee is Rs. 600/- (Rupees Six Hundred Only).
  • Scheduled Tribe/Scheduled Caste candidates from Jharkhand State are required to pay an examination fee of Rs. 150/- (Rupees One Hundred Fifty Only).
  • Candidates with a minimum of 40% relevant disability are exempt from paying the examination fee.

Selection Process

  • Based on Serial Numbers 1 to 8 of the aforementioned table, a merit list will be compiled, and candidates will be shortlisted at a ratio of 5 times the number of vacancies for document verification. Following successful document verification, 3 times the number of candidates per post will be invited for an interview from those present during verification.
  • Candidate selection will be strictly based on a Merit List derived from marks obtained for Academic Record/Achievements and Interview performance, as detailed in the table above.
  • The selection process for Lecturer positions in Polytechnics will involve inviting applications through a system developed by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC). This process will adhere to the Assessment Criteria and Methodology guidelines outlined in Table of Clause 8 of the advertisement, considering all significant publications by candidates that have been published within the qualifying period.
  • The Commission will prepare a final merit list based on the candidate's stated preferences, available vacancies, and the reservation roster, subsequently forwarding recommendations to the appointing authority.
  • The final merit list will be prepared based on the aggregate marks obtained from both academic qualifications and the interview stages. If multiple candidates have identical total marks from educational qualifications, interview, and experience, the candidate with higher marks in Post Graduation will be ranked higher. Should educational qualification marks also be identical, the older candidate by date of birth will receive a higher ranking in the final merit list.

General Information/ Instructions

Note: The total number of available positions may be subject to increase or decrease, contingent on the judgments delivered in High Court cases no. 3419/2020 (Anand Kumar Dalai vs. State of Jharkhand and others), 525/2016 (Dr. Pankaj Kumar vs. State of Jharkhand and others), 2185/2016 (Uttam Kumar vs. State of Jharkhand and others), and 1922/2017 (Bandana Kumari vs. State of Jharkhand and others). Note: Should any candidate reach 65 years of age during the selection process, their candidature will not be considered. # (a) For continuous teaching/post-doctoral experience less than one year but exceeding six months, 01 mark will be awarded; no fractional marks will be given.

(b) Need-Based Teachers/Contractual Teachers appointed under the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Jharkhand, will receive 01 additional mark for each year of continuous teaching, up to a maximum of 5 additional marks. However, the cumulative marks awarded to such teachers for Academic record/achievements (out of 80) will be capped at 80 marks.

(c) The duration candidates spend acquiring an M.Phil and/or Ph.D. Degree will not be counted as teaching or research experience.

(d) Candidates who complete a Ph.D. directly after their B.E./B.Tech degree will be granted full marks for Post Graduation.

(e) For candidates who have completed a 5-year integrated M.E./M.Tech course where separate marks for B.E./B.Tech are not provided, their graduation marks will be assessed based on the marks awarded for their M.E./M.Tech.

How to Apply

  • Applicants must ensure the submission of a self-attested printed copy of their online application along with clear and legible self-attested copies of all necessary certificates, as per Clause-15(i). These documents must reach the Commission's office, addressed to “Controller of Examinations, Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Circular Road, Ranchi-834001”, by registered post/speed post or by hand, no later than 5:00 PM on the scheduled date of 25.03.2026.
  • Applications will be processed exclusively through the OTR (One Time Registration) System available on the official website of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission: www.jpsc.gov.in.
  • Each candidate is responsible for accurately completing their own online application form.
